Monday Ramblings

It's Monday and we're back to the grind. I don't know if there's enough coffee in the world to get me productive today. Vegas is finally cooling down to slightly human temperatures (the lows are dipping below 75) so we might actually be able to open up some windows at night (!). This makes me antsy to spend time outside in the hammock, take long walks with Morty, and toodle around on my bike. That on top of the excitement for our trip to Oahu next week (!!!) is making my focus as sharp as sea glass. Which is to say, not at all.

No sharp edges here.

When I saw a link to "DIY shell candles" my first thought was Ramsey from The Mighty Boosh's Old Gregg... "I'm a local artist. I put shells on things". If you aren't already familiar with Old Gregg you should probably watch the whole episode. It's super weird and hilarious. I digress. Hoping to at least get a giggle out of an ugly Pinterest fail, I clicked... and immediately felt like an idiot for doubting the blogosphere. These candles are adorable and I'm totally going to try making them.

As the seasons start to shift I always get reinvigorated, with the exception of spring to summer. I've always felt a melancholy set in as the temperatures rose but thought nothing of it. Apparently I'm not the only one; science backs me up as well. Interesting.

I spend all summer dreaming of bundling up. And going back to Iceland.

At work there has been a big emphasis on Individual Development Plans, basically career goals. In conversations with mentors and colleagues I've realized I'm terrible at having hard discussions. I'm a people pleaser and asking people to openly critique me is really, really uncomfortable. This interview with Brian Grazer got me thinking about my skills in starting conversations and opening up relationships and how they tie to success. Maybe if I practiced alone with a salad it would be fun.

Hahaha! Tell me my flaws! Hahaha!

The VMA's were last night, and I would have had no idea except they're everywhere in the media because they were CRAZY. Miley Cyrus refused to wear clothing (every outfit looked like a craft store threw up all over her), Kanye announced his bid for president (!?!?!?!?!), and Nicki Minaj got all fiesty about a twitter battle with Miley. I'm so confused. Happy Monday.

I'm getting to old for this nonsense. Get off my lawn you crazy kids!
